I am thankful for many things this year, but here are the three top things. First of all, I am very thankful for my family. I am the oldest child of three in my family and I feel very privileged to have such loving, kind siblings. I have incredible parents, who I appreciate in outstanding ways. Also, this category includes my extended family who always are loving and caring to me. Second, I am very thankful for my house. Without my house, I wouldn’t have a place to live. In my opinion, my house is the perfect size. In addition, I love coming home to my air conditioned house after school every day. The main reason that I am thankful for my house is because of the people that live in it with me. Lastly, I am thankful for my blanket. I am thankful that every night I get the privilege to snuggle in my soft, warm, and cozy blanket. Even when it’s hot, I love to wrap myself around in my favorite blanket. Those are the three top things that I am thankful for.

If you had been given three wishes, what would you ask for? I would ask for unlimited free traveling. This would provide me any trip or traveling opportunity that I would desire. I would use this privilege to take myself every weekend to a different all inclusive getaway! From tropical vacations to snowy mountains, I would have the time of my life. If I feel like it’s too hot one week then I would go to a cruise to a cold place. My second wish would be to have my dream house (as stated in my other post). I would want my dream house to be given to me for free. I would wish for it to be right next to my house and have no repairs needed to be done ever. Lastly, my third wish is to make sicknesses go away forever. I would choose this because being sick is no fun and I would want to prevent that for everyone. This would apply to animals as well. Dogs, cats, and all animals couldn’t get sick within this wish.

If I could trade places with a famous person for the day it would be Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer Lawrence is the actress that played Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games and has been in many other movies as well. She is thirty-four years old and played in The Hunger Games when she was twenty years old. First of all, I would love to be rich and famous for just one day. Being super famous and super rich seems fun if the amount of time can be controlled. The reason I would want to do this for just one day is mainly because I would just like to get the feel of it and then go back to my amazing normal life. Also, I would love to be able to play in The Hunger Games. If I was Jennifer Lawrence for a day, I would want that day to be one of the filming days in The Hunger Games. Being an actress in The Hunger Games seems like an exciting experience! Lastly Jennifer Lawrence seems like a fun person to be because I would want to try out a celebrity interview just once. I would want to make it an exciting interview for anyone who watches it. That is why I would want to be Jennifer Lawrence for a day.

This month I read the novel: The Hunger Games By: Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games is a 374 page novel that is the first book in a series of four books. The Hunger Games takes place in a country called Panem. Panem is made up of 13 districts. In the beginning, Katniss is a 16 year old girl who has to go to a nerve racking reaping while comforting her terrified younger sister. As the conflict develops, Katniss faces the challenge of having to go to a game called The Hunger Games where you have to fight to the death until there is one person left. In the rising action of the story, Katniss has to pretend to be allies with her fellow tribute named Peeta. While doing this, she also has to find allies that will help her during the game. In a pivotal moment, Katniss faces the greatest challenge when she and Peeta are the only ones left in the games. Both her and Peeta decided to eat poisonous berries at the same time. The game masters quickly made an announcement that they were both the victors of The Hunger Games. The falling action tells of how although Katniss and Peeta won the games, they have many challenges ahead of them.

I really enjoyed reading this book because it had a very tense setting almost always, and after reading a chapter you have to read more. The Hunger Games also has very detailed imagery. I could almost always picture the setting and it almost felt like you were there.

My favorite character from this novel is Katniss because she is an amazing role model for every girl. She is brave, strong, and courageous making her a good model for any girl. An example of this is when Katniss says, “‘I volunteer!’ I gasp. ‘I volunteer as tribute!”’ This quote shows that Katniss is extremely brave and courageous because she volunteered to go to The Hunger Games instead of her younger sister Prim going.

My favorite quote from this novel is, “Stop! Stop! Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victors of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark! I give you — the tributes of District Twelve!” This quote is meaningful to me because it shows that even though there are rules for the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta both won, in an attempt to break the rules and make there be no victor at all.
